The Grand Opening

Hello, and welcome to Silencing His Critics: A blog devoted to NBA basketball.

Let's start by introducing the two bloggers.

First, my co-writer.

David Bickel is an accountant in LA. He is 24 years old, Jewish, and when you are on a fast break with him he always drifts to the baseline for a three pointer instead of charging hard to the hoop. He grew up watching the Lakers and he is a huge Kobe homer. He has some broadcasting experience and is obsessed with projecting high school players performance in college, and college performances in the pros. He follows college and pro basketball avidly, and thought that Rich Rodriguez was a good hire and that Navarre was a good quarterback. Yes, he's an idiot.

I am Anthony Robertson. I'm a brewer in Cincinnati. I'm 24, Catholic, wildly out of shape, and I haven't been a decent basketball player sinceI was 17. But, at the time, I was an ornery defender, dangerous passer, and wildly inconsistent and streaky shooter. My only qualification is that I watch about 3 NBA games a week and read everything I can find about it. My hero is John Hollinger founder of the PER which allows me to usually statistically quantify what I like so much about certain players when I see them live.

Bickel and I also set a record at Michigan for the most consecutive Wednesday nights to drink over 6 shots of tequila. This day was aptly titled, Tequilla Wednesday.

Lastly, a quick lesson on how to use the phrase "Silencing His Critics." Example: If I am sitting in a room with friends watching a circa 2006 Miami Heat game, and I am verbally killing Antoine Walker, then Antoine Walker surprisingly comes up with a good play, someone else in the room shouts. . ."Antoine Walker! Silencing his critics!" This is obviously directed at me. In college I was the most frequent victim of this remark as I regularly drunkenly trash players that I hate.

Please enjoy!
